What the Barcelona Art & Wine Tour Actually Is
Our Barcelona Art & Wine Tour takes a small group through two hours of Barcelona’s art world: working galleries, artist studios, the streets and street art between them, all with a glass of local wine inside of a beautiful gallery space. It is, from €34 per person, the most efficiently excellent art evening you can spend in this city.
The Route: Artists, Galleries, and the City Between Them
The route changes with the season – partly because galleries change their shows, partly because the city itself changes, and partly because our guides are working artists who are constantly finding new things to show people. What doesn’t change is the quality of the selection and the depth of the context.
You’ll visit spaces that most visitors never find. Not because they’re hidden exactly – they’re there, on the street, with windows and signs – but because the Barcelona art world doesn’t market itself to tourists. It’s for the people who live here and the collectors who come specifically for it. We bring you into that world.
Meeting the People Who Make the Art
Depending on timing and availability, the tour may include a studio visit – meeting one of our artist guides in their workspace. Kat, Juan, Anya, Slomo, Balu, and Ashwan all work with us as guides. They’re not art historians who talk about art. They’re painters and muralists and gallerists who make it.
When Ashwan – who co-owns and directs Biencuadrado Gallery, holds a Masters from the Art Institute of Chicago – talks about a painting, he’s talking about something he understands from the inside. That’s what we mean when we say our tours are led by artists, not guides.
The Wine (and Why It’s at the End)
The tour ends in a gallery – not a restaurant nor bar, but a genuine gallery space – with a glass of local Catalan wine. Ending in a gallery means the conversation continues in front of art. The wine is really a permission slip for more time with the art and the people you came with.
